okay... why would anyone want to look like this?!

The ‘Bagelhead’ is currently the hottest body modification in Japan,“injecting saline solution into the forehead to create a temporary bagel-like shape". The saline solution is injected for two hours and the ‘bagel/donut-head’ look is created by pressing your thumb in the middle of the forehead.
"For some people, improving one’s appearance can lead to extreme body modification…artist Keroppy is leading the way in the trendy body modification industry. His newest exhibition features “bagelheads,” people with what looks like a small bagel protruding from their foreheads."

I bought these wallets over the weekend

Yes, I agree, it looks super ghetto. But, also looks cool at the same time. So I bought 4 of them.

Kayaking the Na Pali coast

Just came back from the most amazing kayak trips of my life. The Na Pali coast was so green and majestic. We were planning to end at Miloli'i, but had to make a stop at Kalalau because the water was extremely turbulent that it completely wore us out. I was expecting a smooth sailing trip, but the whole way from Haena to Kalalau was crazy; waves were splashing all sorts of directions, and they weren't small waves... they were HUGE! And we flipped 3 times with all our food and camping stuff! But luckily our dry bags kept everything dry, and had some soggy strawberries, but the sandwiches were intact because we put them in a separate ziplock bag. After lunch at Kalalau, we headed to Miloli'i which was also extremely turbulent. The famous sea cave we were all planning to enter didn't happen because the waves were crashing at the entrance of it and the opening was way to dangerous to enter; we would've busted our heads on top of the rocks. We were definitely bummed about that, because it's supposedly breathtaking. We did go through one cave though, it was interesting because we went through one hole and came out the other. And the end of the hole there was a big circular opening on the ceiling where we could see the sky with a huge waterfall come through. I wish I could've captured the waterfall but the water was so fierce that we had to get out of there immediately.
We camped the night at Miloli'i and it was so beautfiul and clean! There were no winds at night and the stars were all out. We saw a few shooting stars. I was hoping we would "rough" it and eat cup o' noodles or something, but our friends brought steak and we baked potatoes with kiawe wood from a tree nearby. It was truly amazing. Then in the morning, we had English muffin sandwiches with Tillamook cheddar cheese, Canadian Bacon, and eggs. All of the food items survived flips in the ocean. We even had French press coffee.
After our breakfast, we packed up all our stuff and headed to Polihale where we were going to be picked up. That stretch had to be the most CALM stretch. It was literally like a lake, no waves at all. We saw sea turtles and even a couple of Hawaiian monk seals which are extremely endangered (only about 900 left). Super cute!!! The stretch between Miloli'i and Polihale was the only time we got to calmly and slowly experience Kauai's beauty. The sea life was popping through the crystal clear waters and the mountains and valleys looked so majestic. It's crazy how you could see everything just happen right next to each other. Every time I go on nature trips (camping, hiking, kayaking, etc.), I'm always in complete awe over and over again like I've never seen nature before. It puts me in my place every time and makes me appreciate the simple things in life.

trip to Chicago!

I'd have to say Chicago has the most beautiful architecture and the most beautiful skyline in the US. It's extremely clean and super pedestrian friendly. I would LOVE to live there, but the winters are so harsh. Chicago, I'm very impressed.
